Echinacea angustifolia dissection

Echinacea angustifolia DC.

Family: Asteraceae

Growing in a large clump in my yard. This plant was transplanted years ago and seems to be very happy here.

The stems are up-right and around 24-30 inches in height. A light pink flower head grows at each side-branch and terminal branch. They have a long peduncle as well. The leaves are very hairy.

Here is a picture after taking off the 21 ray flowers. Each ray flower is 1 1/2 in to 2 in long

I did not count every disc flower! My best guess would be between 100 and 200.

There were 21 ray flowers.

The longitudinal section of the flower head showing the receptacle and long peduncle.
