I enjoyed looking through your dichotomous key. As someone who enjoys visual things, this made a lot of sense to me over the keys written in outline/list form. I could see using this idea with second graders and having them design their own keys with drawings and colors. You could even have them make observations and write them down, and then do a mix and mingle where they have to find others who made similar observations as their own. Then they could do small group activities to continue making observations.
