I love exploring, looking for new and interesting plants and fungi. Having moved multiple times around Alaska to drastically different regions in the last 6 years, I have never feel at home in a place until I understand the new botanical environment. Much to my children's dismay, I always go slow and look at my feet where ever we go. I get excited to see new plants and I am eager to look them up, taking samples or pictures along the way.
Professionally, I work in social services and I have bachelor degrees in Philosophy and History and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. Since I starting working in such a high stress field, I have found the need for connection to the environment to be very important to my own self-preservation. I continually take classes to support and build on my knowledge of plants and the land around me. I look forward to learning a lot this semester from everyone.
