Plant Bingo

I had lots of fun with this one, but needed to make two substitutions, because there were no members of the Brassicaceae near me, and I could not find any plants with porate anther dehiscence (Ericaceae or Solanaceae).

  1. Thanks Andy, this works well, thanks for writing a little description for each of the images. Milkweed pollination is indeed a very unusual type of pollination. When I teach my face-to-face systematic botany course I always get some Asclepias from the greenhouse and we pull the pollinia out and talk about this very specialized sweepstakes pollination. Here a spectacular image (from a nature photographer) showing the pollinia attached to the bees head by the sticky corpusculum that holds the two pollinia via the translator arms together.
