Hi Everyone,
I’m excited to a part of this class! I have had some experience with plants and such as I grew up in rural southeast Alaska. We spent a lot of time in the forests hunting and fishing so I learned to live along with the local wildlife. I just got done with a 2 year stint back in my hometown( I’m back living in Portland, Oregon now) and I have an even bigger respect for the local flora. There are so many interesting plants in that area. I’ve attached one of my favorite plants, the salmonberry. It’s so delicious and beautiful it will always remind me of home no matter where I go.
Welcome Dylan,
yes, the salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis) is a very tasty fruit. I also love cloudberries (Rubus chamaemorus) a relative of the salmonberry, both are in the rose family (Rosaceae). Keep up making these great observations in your are of Alaska or Oregon, either way will be fine.
