Zera – Plant Bingo

Completing my plant bingo while on vacation has been fun. These are all plants from northern Michigan. All photos taken using iPhone 12 Pro. Composite image created using Line Camera app for iPhone.

  1. Well done! I love the stipule image showing adnation to the petiole. The porate anther dehiscence of Solanaceae is a great example of that feature as well. It is interesting that most of the plants that have porate anther dehiscence are buzz pollinate. In the case of greenhouse-grown tomatoes, sometimes an artificial electronic pollinator device is used to increase yield if a bee hive is not being used. Here is a short video on how the real bumble bee dislodges the pollen from a Solanaceae plant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7q9Kn1rhRc
